The purpose of this advisory is to notify owners and operators of ocean-going vessels (OGVs) of changes to the OGV Fuel Regulation. California’s ARB will begin enforcement of the changes to the rule on December 1, 2011.

This advisory is only a summary of the requirements and does not contain all the information that may be needed to comply with the regulation.

What are the changes to the fuel requirements?

The revised fuel requirements are summarized in Table 1 below. These fuel requirements apply to ocean-going vessel main (propulsion) diesel engines, auxiliary diesel engines, and auxiliary
boilers.
