57th Session (31 March – 4 April 2008)The MEPC 57 Update provides in-depth information on regulatory developments agreed during the 57th Session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee that was concluded on 4 April 2008. Of significance are the approved emission standards, revisions to MARPOL Annex VI and new approvals granted to several ballast water treatment systems. The draft Ship Recycling Convention was further developed and it is expected to be completed at MEPC 58 in October pursuant to the holding of a diplomatic conference in May 2009 in Hong Kong. MEPC continued its work to identify and develop possible mechanisms and approaches to limit or reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) from new and existing ships. Download from Infomarine Server
