To the Owner/Superintendent/ Master Your vessel will be undergoing inspection by a P & I condition surveyor to facilitate the provision of P & I cover by Maritime Mutual Insurance Association (NZ) Ltd. The inspection will be accomplished by using a comprehensive check list. The surveyor will need to be accompanied by a Senior Officer throughout the course of the inspection to ensure both his safety and access to all parts of the vessel. The checklist headings, which indicate the scope of the survey, are as follows:

This Surveyor’s Glossary of Hull Terms is intended as a guide to improve the standardization of survey reporting. It is recommended that the listed terms for hull structural elements are used throughout report narratives. The Glossary also includes definitions of common hull survey terms that are applicable for surveys of hull structures and reporting.

Energy Efficiency and Fuel Management guidelines have been developed to expand upon the Environmental Element of TMSA2 specifically with a view to reducing CO2 emissions from ships. The document will be circulated as an insert to TMSA2 with future sales of that publication and can also be downloaded here for use with TMSA2 already purchased.

1. Introduction 1.1 This document describes how items of machinery may be credited for survey based on examinations by the ship’s Chief Engineer.
1.2 The arrangement is only applicable to ships operating on a continuous survey machinery (CSM) cycle and the procedures to be applied depend on whether or not the ship is operating an approved planned maintenance scheme for machinery.
